Presidential Memecoins in the US Experience Fluctuations After the Initial TrumpBiden Debate

In the first 2024 US Presidential debate held last night, the topic of cryptocurrency was noticeably absent. However, memecoins based on the likenesses of the candidates had a strong response.

Millions of Americans tuned in to watch the debate between Donald Trump, the Republican candidate, and Joe Biden, the incumbent Democratic President. The digital asset community has been in hot debate over the candidates’ stances on crypto. Trump has marketed himself as “The Crypto President,” while Biden’s campaign has faced criticism for what is seen as a negative view of the industry and his administration’s close ties to Gary Gensler.

Despite the anticipation surrounding crypto before the debate, neither Bitcoin (BTC) nor any other cryptocurrencies were mentioned. Nevertheless, two memecoins based on the candidates’ images experienced significant movements after the debate.

TRUMP, a memecoin that recently suffered a crash due to rumors of Trump launching an official memecoin, surged by 33% from a 24-hour low of $7.22 to a high of $9.61 in the hours following the broadcast. On the other hand, BODEN, another memecoin representing Biden, plummeted from a high of $0.1715 to a low of $0.07204, experiencing a 58% drop.

As of now, BODEN is valued at $0.07917, marking a 37% decline for the day. TRUMP, on the other hand, has seen a correction and is currently valued at $7.24, reflecting a 19% decrease over the same period.
