Tether Introduces USDT on Ton Blockchain, Allowing Telegram Messaging Platform’s Userbase to Utilize the Stablecoin
Tether (USDT), the stablecoin issuer, is set to introduce its dollar-pegged asset on The Open Network (TON), which will grant it access to Telegram’s large user base. In an article, Tether states that it will be launching both USDT and Tether Gold (XAUT) on the layer-1 protocol TON, expanding its coverage to 15 blockchains in total. Tether highlights that Telegram’s instant messaging system can facilitate fast peer-to-peer payments worldwide. With TON’s integration with Telegram, USDT and XAUT have the potential to offer a seamless and borderless experience for P2P payments to Telegram’s estimated 900 million users globally. Tether believes that the addition of the world’s most popular stablecoin to TON will significantly enhance activity and liquidity on the blockchain. Tether’s inclusion on TON will simplify access to capital for developers and users across various use cases, while allowing users to hold and transfer USDT using their TON wallet. USDT is also supported on notable blockchains such as Ethereum (ETH), Polygon (MATIC), Solana (SOL), and Avalanche (AVAX). Tether recently announced its expansion into new divisions – data, finance, education, and power – to create a comprehensive and future-proof financial and tech ecosystem.
